Voyager Recordings
Labels / Record Companies
Voyager Recordings & Publications was a Seattle label founded in 1967 by fiddler Vivian Williams and her husband, guitarist Phil Williams. It grew out of their field recordings of old-time fiddlers across Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Over the decades it released dozens of albums of Northwest regional fiddling, old-time and bluegrass, and 19th-century dance music, including Vivian's own solo album Fiddler. In 1983 it added a publishing arm with the Brand New Old Time Fiddle Tunes books. After Phil's death in 2017, Vivian gave the label's rights to the Smithsonian in 2021, and the remaining stock went to fiddle organizations.
