Vern Williams Band
Bands / Ensembles
The Vern Williams Band was a bluegrass band from California led by Arkansas-born mandolinist and singer Vern Williams. Williams formed the band after his duo, Vern & Ray, with fiddler Ray Park, broke up in the early 1970s. The core members were his son Delbert Williams on guitar, Ed Neff on fiddle and Keith Little on banjo and vocals. Bassists included J.D. Rhynes and Kevin Thompson, and Laurie Lewis played. The band signed with Rounder Records in 1980 and soon recorded Bluegrass from the Gold Country. It also backed country singer Rose Maddox on two albums, This Is Rose Maddox (1981) and A Beautiful Bouquet (1983).
