Tom Adams

Tom Adams (November, 1958) is an American bluegrass banjoist, guitarist, and vocalist. Born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he began his musical journey in 1969 performing alongside his father and brothers in the regional group The Adams Brothers Show. He gained national recognition in 1983 when he was hired by Jimmy Martin to play banjo for the Sunny Mountain Boys. In 1986, he joined the Johnson Mountain Boys with whom he worked with for nearly a decade, earning two Grammy nominations. He later served as a sideman and session musician for prominent acts including Blue Highway, the Lynn Morris Band, and Rhonda Vincent & The Rage. Following a battle with focal dystonia in the early 2000s, he successfully pivoted to playing rhythm guitar and singing lead vocals. He is a three-time recipient of the International Bluegrass Music Association's Banjo Player of the Year award.
