Suzanne Cox
Suzanne Cox (born June 5, 1967) is a bluegrass mandolinist, singer, and a member of the Cox Family. She was born in Springhill, Louisiana. She grew up in the family band led by her father, fiddler Willard Cox, in Cotton Valley, Louisiana, with her sisters Evelyn and Lynn and her brother Sidney. Alison Krauss passed one of the family's home recordings to Rounder Records and subsequently produced their 1993 album Everybody's Reaching Out for Someone. The family's collaboration with Krauss, I Know Who Holds Tomorrow, won the Grammy for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album. Their 1995 album Beyond the City was nominated for the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album. The Cox Family also appeared on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year. The family performed only occasionally after Willard was seriously injured in a car accident in 2000. Suzanne, Evelyn and Sidney returned as a trio with the album Gone Like the Cotton in 2015.
