Scallion Sisters

Bands / Ensembles

The Scallion Sisters, sometimes billed as the Fabulous Scallion Sisters, were an all-woman band and a local mainstay in mid1980s Atlanta, Georgia, with DeDe Vogt on vocals and bass. The Indigo Girls have named DeDe Vogt and the Scallion Sisters among the Atlanta musicians who helped them early on, giving them opening spots and break sets. As the members developed as songwriters, the band moved toward a harder rock sound and became Paper Dolls. Paper Dolls' members were Cindy Diamond (piano, synthesizer, vocals), DeDe Vogt (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals), Missy Speert (guitar, vocals), Anne MacDonald (vocals) and Tamara Hurt (percussion). It released one album and broke up as the 1980s ended. Vogt later played with the Indigo Girls, ran a recording studio, and founded the Western trio Cowboy Envy.
