Sally Jones and the Sidewinders

Bands / Ensembles

Sally Jones and the Sidewinders, formed in 2000, was a bluegrass band led by singer and guitarist Sally Jones. Jones, who is from Alberta, Canada, had sung backup for Marie Osmond and had been a member of Petticoat Junction and Harley Allen's band before starting the Sidewinders. The core lineup included Kristin Scott Benson on banjo and Mickey Harris on bass, both of whom also sang. Cody Kilby and Brad Meinerding played mandolin for the group at times. The band was nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2002 IBMA Awards. Harris joined Rhonda Vincent and the Rage in August 2002. Benson joined the Grascals in 2008 and went on to win IBMA Banjo Player of the Year five times.
