People is a weekly American magazine of celebrity news and human-interest stories, launched by Time Inc. with its first issue dated March 4, 1974, under founding managing editor Richard Stolley. It became one of the largest-circulation magazines in the country. After Time Inc. was sold to Meredith in 2018 and Meredith to Dotdash in 2021, the parent company renamed itself People Inc. in 2025 after its flagship brand. The magazine has about 2.2 million paid print and digital subscribers.
