Pat Parker

Pat Parker (1944–1989) was an influential African American poet, activist, and performance artist whose work was foundational to the Black lesbian feminist movement. She paired her literary career with deep community organizing, co-founding the Women’s Press Collective, serving as executive director of the Oakland Feminist Women’s Health Center, and collaborating extensively with fellow activist-poet Audre Lorde.
