Fred Travers
Fred Travers is an American bluegrass dobroist and vocalist from Huntingtown, Maryland, who is best known for his long-standing tenure with the progressive bluegrass band The Seldom Scene. Originally a guitar player and drummer, he shifted exclusively to the resophonic guitar after witnessing a performance by Mike Auldridge in Washington, D.C.. Travers launched his professional career performing with mid-Atlantic regional ensembles before he was recruited in 1995 by founding member John Duffey to officially replace Auldridge in The Seldom Scene.
