Elektra Records

Labels / Record Companies

Elektra Records was founded in 1950 by Jac Holzman and Paul Rickolt and was a leading folk label of the 1950s and early 1960s. It recorded Theodore Bikel, Judy Collins, Phil Ochs, and Tom Paxton, and brought the Dillards to a national audience. It later moved into rock with the Doors, Love, and the Stooges, and became part of Warner Music Group in 1970.
