Dan Loftin

Dan Loftin is an American commercial photographer and documentarian who specializes in studio imaging of historic fretted instruments and live roots music production. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, his macro-photography features detailed cataloging of vintage instruments, notably tracking archival close-ups of Bill Monroe’s signature 1923 Gibson F-5 mandolin, classic Martin acoustic guitars, and pre-war Gibson banjos. His work is frequently commissioned by instrument builders, vintage instrument dealers such as the Nashville Guitar Company.
