Country Music Foundation
Organizations / Associations
The Country Music Foundation is a Nashville nonprofit chartered by the state of Tennessee in 1964 to preserve and teach the history of country music. It operates the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, which opened on Music Row on April 1, 1967, and moved downtown in 2001. Its library and archive, founded in 1968, is one of the world's largest research collections devoted to a single form of popular music. The foundation also runs Historic RCA Studio B (since 1977) and Hatch Show Print (since 1986). Its record label has issued historic reissues such as The Bristol Sessions (1987). Through CMF Press, often in partnership with Vanderbilt University Press, it has published roots-music scholarship, including Charles Wolfe's The Devil's Box and Jonny Whiteside's Ramblin' Rose.
