Carolyn Vincent
Carolyn Christine Vincent (née Thompson) is a bassist and harmony singer with the family band the Sally Mountain Show. She married banjo player Johnny Vincent on May 29, 1961, and they settled in Greentop, Missouri. Their three children, Rhonda, Darrin, and Brian, all started their music careers in the family band, The Sally Mountain Show, which began in 1967 on KTVO television in Ottumwa, Iowa, and KIRX radio in Kirksville, Missouri. Its first lineup included Johnny, Carolyn, five-year-old Rhonda, and Johnny's father, Bill Vincent, along with other relatives and friends. After Bill Vincent died in 1972, the band was cut down to the immediate family and played as the Sally Mountain Trio until Darrin joined followed later by Brian. The Lancer Agency signed the band in 1981, and it toured the festival circuit through the 1980s. The band recorded for the Stardust label, and in 1991 it shared credit with Rhonda on the Rebel album Bound for Gloryland. The family reunited in 2003 to record A Family Tradition. Johnny and Carolyn ran the Sally Mountain Park Bluegrass Festival on 63 acres in Queen City, Missouri, from 1986 until 2020. She was known as the "Double Clutching Mama" and as the festival's "Pie Lady." Johnny died in 2014. Since then Carolyn has performed several times with Rhonda.
