Bluegrass Unlimited
Publishers / Periodicals
Founded in 1966, Bluegrass Unlimited is the oldest nationally distributed bluegrass magazine, widely regarded as the “bible of bluegrass.” Initially a mimeographed booklet, it grew under Pete and Marion Kuykendall into the premier monthly covering bluegrass, old-time, and traditional country music. Content includes artist profiles, historical features, instructional pieces, reviews, and national radio charts. A founding member of IBMA, the magazine has been praised by scholars like Neil Rosenberg and Bill Malone for its influence in shaping the field. In 2020, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum acquired and continues to publish Bluegrass Unlimited.
